This exquisite Singer
Featherweight 221 presentation is the First Edition in the new Desk
Dave "Victorian Elegance" series and honors the beautiful Lady
Alexandra, Princess of Wales.
Alexandra Caroline
Marie Charlotte Louise Julia, Princess of Denmark, was born in
Copenhagen on December 1, 1844. At the age of sixteen she was chosen
as the future wife of Albert Edward, Prince of Wales, the English heir
apparent of Queen Victoria. Alexandra and Albert Edward were
eventually married eighteen months later in 1863 on the 10th of March,
with their highly anticipated wedding held at Saint George’s Chapel,
Windsor Castle, England. Alexandra became Princess of Wales and
remained Princess of Wales until 1901. She is the longest to ever
hold that title.
Upon the death of
Queen Victoria in 1901, Victoria’s son, Albert Edward became King
Edward VII of England and Alexandra became Queen. Alexandra remained
Queen of England until Edward’s death in 1910 and was mother to King
George V: the grandfather of HRH Queen Elizabeth II. Alexandra
eventually passed in 1925.
