known as Princess Pauline, of France.
Pauline was born
in 1825 and married Albert de Broglie, the twenty-eighth Prime
Minister of France in 1845. Highly intelligent and widely known
for her great beauty, she suffered from profound shyness for most of
her life. It is this demure and reserved mystique that has been
uniquely captured in this fabulous portrait of her, completed whilst
she was twenty-one years of age.
